DEHRADUN: Several members of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) joined the Uttarakhand unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Dehradun on Thursday. Among them is Raju Maurya, who had contested some elections on the UKD ticket, the latest being in the 2017 assembly elections, when he contested from the Devaprayag constituency. Maurya also held an important organisational post in UKD.

Apart from Maurya, several other members of UKD also joined AAP on Thursday. Party memberships were handed over by the AAP state in-charge Dinesh Mohaniya.

“We are glad that more and more people are joining our party in Uttarakhand. Our party is the third alternative this state needs, and people know it’s AAP alone that can deliver on its promises. The state’s education and health sectors need a facelift immediately. Anybody who wishes to join our party is welcome, but they should not be any of the 3Cs — corrupt, criminal or communal,” said Mohaniya.

The party also released a new helpline number for AAP’s membership drive, specifically meant for people of Uttarakhand. “We have released a new helpline number (7669007669) for people to gain party membership. This number is meant only for people of Uttarakhand. The previous number had a different telephone circle, which included a part of western UP. This new one will help us get to know the exact figures for Uttarakhand,” said Mohaniya.
