DM Dhiraj Singh Garbyal inspected the renovation and beautification work conducted in Bawan Dat Canal in Lamachaud, Fatehpur on Wednesday evening. The Bavan Dant canal was constructed during the British period, the canal has 52 pillars, hence the name Bavan Dant, the length of this canal is around 1 kilometer, which passes from Fatehpur to Lamachaur and irrigated the agriculture of several dozen villages. It provides water from Bhakra river. The canal was built by the Britishers according to the circumstances of the time during the British period, which are relevant even today.

While inspecting the canal, the DM said that the restoration work of the canal is relevant even today. This will enable the Lamchad area to get enough water for irrigation during the rainy season.

An amount of Rs 78 lakh has been approved by the District Magistrate from the district plan for the revival and beautification of the Dat Canal. Out of the sanctioned amount, the first installment of Rs.39 lakh has been transferred to the working organization Kumaon Nirman Vikas Nigam and the construction work is in progress.

While inspecting the canal, the DM instructed the executing organization to complete the construction work with transparency, taking special care of the quality and standard. Also asked to clean the canal as soon as possible so that the local people can enjoy it from the point of view of tourism and understand its importance. It is said that along with historical heritage, it is also a center of tourism.

The DM said that the objections related to the forest will be resolved soon after talks. On this occasion, MLA representative Vikas Bhagat, former head Chandan Singh Pokharia, JE Sanjay Joshi, Mohan Negi and others were present.
