When you use WhatsApp on your desktop, you usually have to take out your phone and scan the QR code to log in. It’s not a long complicated process, but it is a tedious one especially if your phone is away from you. This might change soon. WhatsApp might soon let you log in on WhatsApp Web with only your fingerprint.

This new login method is definitely more convenient. While the process is essentially the same, if and when this feature rolls out, you will no longer need to scan a QR code. You can just log in with your fingerprint on your phone which will get you on WhatsApp Web. You still need to use your phone to login, but a fingerprint scan is easier than a code scan.

This is what the new login process might look like on your phone.

And it is also more secure. If anyone but you tries to use your device to log into WhatsApp, they will not be able to do so.

This feature is one of the many that WhatsApp has been working on to make it easier for users to access the app. Last year, they were working on a way to use the Web app without the phone, and more recently, they were working on a feature that lets you use the same phone number across multiple phones.

As is the case with most of the features WABetaInfo spots on the beta builds, there is no knowing if and when this feature is going to roll out officially.
