After Uttar Pradesh, the race to switch sides has started in Uttarakhand before the assembly elections. Even before Harak Singh Rawat is going to join Congress, Uttarakhand Mahila Congress state president Sarita Arya joined BJP in Dehradun today.

Sarita Arya was got membership of the party by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and BJP State President Madan Kaushik. In the election, BJP can field Arya from the Nainital seat.

Nainital seat was with BJP’s Kharak Singh Bohra. After 23 years, Sarita Arya again got the seatback to Congress. Sarita Arya was elected MLA on Congress ticket in 2012 from Nainital reserved seat in Kumaon Mandal. She was defeated in the 2017 election. As a result of this, she was elected as the women president for Uttarakhand in the National Women’s Congress in 2015.

Apart from women’s rights, social service, she is known for her outspokenness. Sanjeev Arya, who was an MLA from Nainital, has returned to the Congress along with his father and former minister Yashpal Arya. Sanjeev is sure to get a Congress ticket from Nainital. On the other hand, BJP can field Sarita from Nainital.
