In the history of love, many have gone to extreme lengths to get back their lost love. But none have done something as extraordinary as Xu, a 30-year-old man from China.
Xu built an entire island for his ex-girlfriend in a bid to win her back.
The grand gesture was completed at the expense of all of Xu’s savings. Unfortunately, it failed to win back his ex-lover.
But all was not lost for Xu. His gesture failed to win back the heart of his ex-girlfriend but his creation has now become a hotspot for couples.
The island, located in Hetou village in Yengde city, has now become a popular attraction among those looking for a romantic place to meet.
After the couple called it quits in 2020, Xu moved to his hometown in the countryside to take care of his elderly parents.
At that time, Xu wasn’t ready to fully give up on his relationship. So, he decided to give a deserted island a magical makeover by spending more than 1,00,000 yuan.
The builders he hired for the work built an arch bridge and adorned the entire island with beautiful colours and flowers.
The island covers an area of just 20-30 square meters but is covered with pink grass, cherry trees, peach trees, and other symbols of love.
The island was completed by January. Sadly, Xu’s girlfriend was not moved by the gesture and she refused to get back with him.
The island is now a popular spot for couples. Many have already used it for marriage proposals and pre and post-wedding photoshoots.
