At least two people were killed and 16 injured in a major blast in Pakistan’s Lahore on Wednesday, as per reports. The blast reportedly occurred near the Lahore residence of terrorist Hafiz Saeed.

Rescue, police, and bomb disposal teams reached the site of the incident, while witnesses said the glass windows of nearby houses and buildings were shattered in the blast. Buildings at the site of the incident were also damaged in the blast.

Rescue officials said at least 16 people sustained injuries and were shifted to Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital via private cars and auto-rickshaws.

The sound of the blast was so loud that it was heard in faraway areas, reports added. The nature of the blast, however, has not been ascertained yet. An eyewitness told Geo News that an unidentified individual parked a motorcycle near the house which later exploded.

Police have, meanwhilee, cordoned off the area for further investigation while traffic has been redirected.
