Dehradun: The rain spell that lashed the city on Friday not only slowed down the pace of traffic in the city but also caused water logging in areas like New Road, Darsanlal Chowk, Buddha Chowk, and Miyawala.
This caused inconvenience for both motorists and pedestrians.
Vandana Kanyal, a resident of EC Road, told TOI, “I had gone to Buddha Chowk with my daughter for some important work but we had a tough time treading on waterlogged streets.”
Traffic cops struggled to maintain smooth flow of traffic across the city as more and more people took out their cars to avoid getting drenched.
Arun Chamoli, a resident of Rajpur Road, said, “I went out shopping on Friday but the volume of traffic was much more than my expectation. Waterlogging on roadside made it difficult for me to move out of the car.”
Miyawala area was among the worst hit as rainwater filled pot holes on the road and in absence of a proper drainage facility, locals had to struggle to even get out of their homes.
TOI had earlier reported the lack of sanitation facilities and the water logging issue faced by residents of Vanaspati Puram society in Miyawala locality.
