Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given a big statement regarding Uniform Civil Code. Rejecting the objections of 42 advocates of the Supreme Court on Uniform Civil Code, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that ‘this decision has been taken according to the public sentiments’.

The government has taken the decision to implement Uniform Civil Code only after much deliberation. On 12 February 2022, I had placed my resolution in front of the public. It was said that every citizen of the state will bring a law for the class.

The people accepted that resolution and handed over power to the BJP again with an absolute majority. This decision is a decision of public sentiments.

The CM further said that the government has formed a high-level committee to prepare the draft of the Uniform Civil Code.

This committee will also go from place to place and take suggestions from common people from various forums. State and public interest suggestions will undoubtedly be included in the Code as well.
