On Monday, Chief Secretary Dr. S. s. Sandhu reviewed the progress of new parking projects to be built in the state at the Secretariat. The Chief Secretary directed the District Magistrates to prepare a site specific completion plan for all the parkings.

Reiterating that not wasting big parking lots in beautiful tourist places, he said that efforts should be made to make small parking in hill tourist places.

The Chief Secretary said that parking is becoming a formidable problem in the state, especially in hill towns. He instructed all the district magistrates to continuously look for new parking spots. Said that in every district at least one project must be made of tunnel parking as an experiment.

In any parking project where there is any obstruction, the problem should be resolved by contacting the concerned officer or secretary. He directed Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan to appoint dedicated officers for parking projects.

He said that the work will be expedited by posting a dedicated officer. The work should be started immediately in the parking where there is no problem in the construction. He said that the progress of parking projects should be reviewed every week.

On this occasion, senior officers of the concerned departments including Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan and District Magistrates of all the districts were present through video conferencing.
