There is a constant debate on the immense potential of tourism and the lack of infrastructure in Uttarakhand, but now the mountains are going to get a big gift in this matter. Now those hill stations of Uttarakhand will get underground tunnel parking, where tourists reach in large numbers and not only tourists but also the local people and administration have to deal with the problem of jam and parking.
In the case of such parking made with state-of-the-art technology, it is being claimed that Uttarakhand will be the first state in the country, where there will be a parking system of this level.
The Pushkar Singh Dhami government of Uttarakhand was proposed by THDC to build underground tunnel parking since last year, which has now been approved by the cabinet. Now THDC will work with other companies on this project to overcome the problem of parking at hill stations.
THDC CMD Rajiv Bishnoi said that soon the work of underground parking at Nainital, Mussoorie and other tourist places will start and tourists will get relief from jam as well as state-of-the-art parking facility.
Uttarakhand Chief Secretary SS Sandhu told the media that such small tunnels in the mountains would be used as parking. Actually this proposal was put by the Public Works Department, which got approval in the Dhami government’s cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. Sandhu said that for the construction of these tunnels, organizations like Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, Tehri Hydro Power Development Corporation and Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited would work together.
Taking some other big decisions, the cabinet also approved the proposal related to Uttarakhand Landslide Relief and Management Center. This decision of the state living in the grip of disaster is considered important as it will be the first such center in the country. Apart from this, approval was also given to expedite the work of Dehradun-Mussoorie ropeway, which has been stuck since 2019 as the matter was pending due to lack of clarity about the height.
Along with this, a proposal was also passed in the cabinet to give 100 acres of land free of cost to the central government for setting up a satellite center of AIIMS near Kichha in Udham Singh Nagar district. The officials were quoted as saying that the mobile companies which are setting up their towers in the state, now the government will charge them, this decision was also taken in the cabinet.
