TikTok rating on Google Play Store has fairly improved to 2.9 stars as more negative reviews have been taken down. The app’s reviews have now been reduced to 20 million on Google Play.

TikTok received heavy backlash from people in India with trends to delete the app running on social media for a few days. This led to many people posting negative reviews of TikTok on Google Play and giving it the lowest possible 1-star rating. The trend may have died down but it’s taking some time for TikTok’s rating to come up.

Google is however helping the ByteDance-owned app by deleting millions of reviews within a span of 24 hours in some cases. A Google spokesperson confirmed to TechCrunch that it removed millions of negative TikTok reviews “as a corrective action to curb spam abuse”.

Google displays app ratings based on user reviews on its Play Store. Apple also allows app ratings on the App Store but the damage isn’t so bad there. TikTok has so far received 1.2 million ratings on the App Store and it’s currently at 3.4 stars. TikTok is also the number one entertainment app on iOS.

TikTok receives its highest number of downloads in India. The app has so far garnered 611 million lifetime downloads from India and this accounts for 30.3% of the app’s total downloads, according to data from Sensor Tower. TikTok continued to be the most downloaded non-game app globally but it was beaten by Zoom last month.
