Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation 4 controller will not work with PlayStation 5 games. The company introduced the DualSense controller with new features and improvements for the PS5.

Sony in a new blog post clarified if existing accessories will work with the upcoming PS5. On the DualShock controller not supporting PS5 games Sony said, “We believe that PS5 games should take advantage of the new capabilities and features we’re bringing to the platform, including the features of DualSense wireless controller.”

The DualSense controllers are a must for PS5 owners. The same move was taken when Sony launched the PS4 as the PS3 controller’s support wasn’t available. But Sony’s made a couple of changes and introduced new ‘firsts’ in the DualSense controller.

For starters, Sony has replaced the rumble sensation on the controller with haptic feedback. It also comes with swiping gestures and new audio effects. The DualSense controller also has an integrated microphone which is a first for Sony controllers. There’s also a USB-C port, new adaptive triggers and speakers in the controller.

Sony also clarified on other peripherals which include officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks and flight sticks will work PS5 games and supported PS4 games. The list of supported PS4 games hasn’t been revealed though. As for the platinum and gold wireless headsets, and third-party headsets will work on the PS5. The PS Move Motion controllers and the PS VR Aim Controller will also work with supported PS VR games on the PS5.

PS5 is due for a release this holiday season. Its arrival has been teased on Flipkart and Amazon India as well. Sony has so far revealed the console, its accessories, specs and games as well.
