We’re already seeing quite a number of TikTok rival apps gaining traction ever since the app was banned. Another TikTok rival in the making is Moj by ShareChat. This app has already garnered over 1 million downloads on Google Play Store within five days since its launch.

Moj by ShareChat borrows features from TikTok as it lets users upload and share short 15-second videos. The app offers editing tools as well as effects, stickers and filters.

It is available in 15 Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati and Kannada. There’s no support for English language at present. Moj also has an option for users to directly share their videos as WhatsApp Status updates.

ShareChat launched Moj on June 29 on the Google Play Store. It’s available on Apple’s App Store as well. The app is currently in beta and there’s no word when ShareChat plans to launch the stable version of Moj.

Moj is the latest to join the growing list of apps offering desi alternatives to TikTok. The ban on TikTok and 58 other Chinese apps has created an opportunity for homegrown apps to become popular. ShareChat itself which competed with Helo, has seen more than 15 million downloads since the ban.

Other TikTok rivals like Chingari have already scored over 10 million downloads on Google Play Store. Then there’s Mitron which also has over 10 million downloads on Google Play. Roposo which is actually an old app saw its popularity shoot up in the past few days as a result of the TikTok ban.
