Spotify users can now play and control podcasts through Google Assistant. The support has been rolled out to users globally. It currently supports only the English language.

To control Spotify through Google Assistant, users need to activate the assistant by saying “Hey Google…” followed by the command to control a podcast. For instance, users can say “Ok Google, play The Michelle Obama Podcast on Spotify” or “Ok Google, play An Oral History of The Office podcast on Spotify.”

Users can listen to Spotify podcasts on Google Assistant-enabled smart speakers and smart displays such as the new Nest Audio, Nest Mini, Nest Hub Max, and more. You can also speak to Google Assistant on your phone.

“Digital assistants make multitasking a breeze. You can easily go about your day making requests like “what’s the weather?” or “how many tablespoons are in a cup?” You can even get the jams going just by saying “play today’s top hits.” Now, if you have a Google Assistant-enabled device, there’s another request you can add to the list: hearing your favourite podcasts on Spotify,” said the company in a post.
