The race is on to launch the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 888-powered smartphone. Already, the likes of Xiaomi and Realme have confirmed phones with the latest chipset. Looks like Motorola is also going to enter the fray very soon.

Even as details about the Snapdragon 888-powered Motorola phone are scant right now, Lenovo executive Chen Jin has posted a retail box an upcoming phone. According to reports, this could be a Snapdragon 888-baed Motorola phone.

As phonearena points out, Motorola introduced a flagship-level phone earlier in April this year with the Edge Plus. The 5G-enabled Edge Plus is available online for 65,000 approximately. The phone boasts of specifications such as 12GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, 108-megapixel camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.

The Snapdragon 888-based phones are likely to go official early next year. Based on reports so far, Xiaomi may introduce the phone with the latest chipset first. The Chinese handset company will showcase the Mi 11 smartphone series on December 28. Apart from Snapdragon 888, the phone is said to come with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, Quad HD+ display, and 4,780mAh battery.

As far as Snapdragon 888 goes, the SoC is said to be a big upgrade over the predecessor. According to Qualcomm’s own benchmark results, the processor will offer improved performance across CPU, graphics, and AI, among other parameters.

A separate report suggests Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 may not be more powerful than Apple’s A14 and A13 chips. According to Anandtech, Snapdragon 888 bagged lesser scores than Apple’s flagship chips on Geekbench 5 and GFX Bench benchmark tests.
