The team behind PUBG Mobile India have been trying to get their game launched in the country for a while now. After making the announcements of the relaunch just before Diwali, the now-registered company has been waiting for a go-ahead from the government.

According to reports for InsideSport, they had requested for a meeting with the government four weeks ago but the Centre is yet to respond. PUBG Mobile India needs permission from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to be able to go live here. But according to sources, MeitY has not responded to PUBG promoters’ request for a meeting and the request was put in four weeks ago.

“Government is yet to respond to the request for the meeting. The game promoters are ready to comply to all norms set by the Indian government – but no response has comeback from the MEITY office,” a source close to PUBG promoters told InsideSport.

While PUBG promoters are counting on the meeting to be successful, sources are of the opinion that it will be very tough for PUBG Mobile India to launch in India any time before January or February next year.

“We don’t have any news to share at this time regarding PUBG Mobile India. Keep an eye on the official website for more information!” Microsoft Azure had said regarding the PUBG Mobile India launch.

Given that the Indian alternative to PUBG Mobile India, FAU-G, has made its registrations live and have managed to garner more than one million registrations in less than three days could spell trouble for PUBG Mobile India.

According to reports, the company pushed for another meeting with the government just after the FAU-G registrations went live, but there has been no update on the front either.

For now, it seems like an endless waiting game.
