Apple is working on its ninth-gen iPad that’s going to be a low-cost one and is expected to make its debut this year. According to reports, the design on this iPad is going to be based on the third-gen iPad Air that Apple had introduced in 2019. The report comes from Mac Otakara who cited Chinese supply chain sources.
Reports suggest that the display size on the new iPad is going to remain the same at 10.2-inches but it might be significantly thinner than the iPad Air at 6.3mm. The current iPad Air is 7.5mm thick. The new iPad is also expected to be lighter at 460gms, 30 gms less than the 490 gms of the current one.
According to Otakara the device will continue to feature a Touch ID Home button and the lightning port. It is also expected to have a full-lamination display, anti-reflective coating, P3 wide color support and True Tone.
Besides this ninth-gen iPad, Otakara also shared some details about the next-gen iPad Pro. According to reports the upcoming refresh will not see any changes in terms of display size or housing, but the “A-series chip performance could be significantly improved”.
Many iPad rumours have also suggested that the new iPad could come with a reduced pricing with Apple selling it for $299 instead of $329.
