Telangana Rashtra Samithi led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has decided to support Yashwant Sinha, the opposition’s presidential candidate for the upcoming elections.

TRS working president KT Rama Rao will attend Yashwant Sinha’s nomination for elections in Delhi today. The Chief Minister’s son KT Rama Rao along with some TRS MPs will also attend the program.

Yashwant Sinha, 84, will file his nomination for the presidential election at 11.30 am. KCR was not physically present in the meeting of the opposition parties to decide their joint candidate for the presidential election.

Sinha promised last week that he would raise his voice for farmers, workers, unemployed youth, women and marginalized people if he wins the presidential election.

Yashwant Sinha served as the Union Finance Minister under PM Chandrashekhar from 1990 to 1991. He again served as the Union Finance Minister under the National Democratic Alliance government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee from March 1998 to July 2002.

Apart from this, Yashwant Sinha also served as the Minister of External Affairs from July 2002 to May 2004. The presidential election is to be held on July 18 and the results will be declared on July 21.

The term of President Ram Nath Kovind will end on July 24. The BJP-led NDA has declared Draupadi Murmu as its candidate for the post.
