Asserting that the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony at Ram temple in Ayodhya is an event of the entire society, former MP of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ram Vilas Das Vedanti has hit out at the Congress after its veteran Digvijay Singh dubbed the ceremony scheduled to be held later this month as ‘BJP/RSS event’.
Speaking to ANI, the former BJP MP said that Congress has boycotted ‘Hindutva, Sanatan Dharma and nationalism’ after declining the invitation to attend the pran-pratishtha at Ram Temple.
“This is not an event of any party but of the entire society. Nobody has been stopped, and invitations have been extended to every party. This is a religious, devotional, cultural and historical event…Congress has boycotted Hindutva, Sanatan Dharma and nationalism,” Vedanti said.
He further came down heavily on Congress and said, “People have identified Congress correctly that they are anti-religion, anti-Hindu and anti-Sanatana. People should not support such Congress, the party has proven it by itself…”
Earlier on Thursday, Digvijay Singh said that the ceremony at the Ayodhya’s temple has been created like an event of the BJP and RSS.
“Who is going there? Not only the Congress, but Shiv Sena, RJD, CPI (M), JDU, TMC which have got the invitation, are not going there. We will be happy to go to the temple, but let the temple’s construction be completed. They have made it an event of the BJP and RSS,” Singh said.
Referring to VHP leader Champat Rai, who was made the head of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, the Congress leader said, “Champat Rai is the promoter of VHP who has done a land scam. Why is the PM silent on this? Who is Champat Rai to say, ‘If Shankaracharyas do not want to come, then let them not to’. Does this temple belong to you? This is the national temple and whoever is interested can come to visit.”
He also said that the event is a crooked attempt to benefit by making this an election issue.
Congress MP Digvijaya Singh also questioned why Nirmohi Akhada’s rights have been taken away.
“Forget the invitation. What we are objecting to is that the construction (of Ram Temple) is not complete. When the construction is not complete, what is the ‘pranpratishtha’ about? This is against the holy scriptures and religion…This is a crooked attempt to benefit by making this an election issue…” he added. (ANI)
