The world mourns the sudden demise of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. PM Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the death of Shinzo due to bullet injury.

The PM tweeted that ‘my association with Mr. Abe goes back many years. I knew him during my tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and our friendship continued even after I became the PM. His sharp insights on the economy and global affairs have always left a deep impression on me.”

PM Modi further wrote, ‘Mr Abe made a huge contribution in elevating India-Japan relations to the level of a special strategic and global partnership. Today the whole of India mourns with Japan and we stand with our Japanese brothers and sisters in this difficult time.

It is noteworthy that while addressing an election program in Nara city on Friday morning, 67-year-old Shinzo Abe was shot by a man from behind. He died after an operation that lasted for about 6 hours.
