Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a ‘Viksit Assam’ and said that the leader brings cheers to the people through his development measures.
Taking to his social media handle, Chief Minister Sarma posted a thread on Assam’s development milestones ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to the tea state.
“Spurring a wave of development in Assam worth Rs 7,606 crore. Whenever Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modiji visits us, he brings cheer to the people through his welfare measures for a #ViksitAssam. A thread on the development milestones during his visit,” read the post.

Chief Minister Sarma in another post spoke on the central government’s investment in the railway infrastructure in the northeast.
“In a big boost to rail connectivity, Hon’ble PM will dedicate two railway line doubling projects worth Rs 1328cr from Dhupdhara- Chhaygaon and New Bongaigaon-Sorbhog. This is part of the Rs 10,000 cr the Modi Govt is investing for rail infra in NE in 2024-25,” said the post.

CM Sarma also announced that the Prime Minister will unveil projects worth Rs 1,555 crore to enhance domestic oil refining capacity in multiple facilities across Assam.
“Marching towards an Atmanirbhar Bharat, Hon’ble PM will lay the foundation of 3 projects costing Rs 1,555cr to enhance domestic oil refining capacity in multiple facilities across Assam. These 13 transformative projects will give wings to a #ViksitAssam,” stated the post.
Meanwhile, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Assam, State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora said that the people of Assam are ready to welcome the most dynamic, visionary leader to Kaziranga.
Notably, this will be the Prime Minister’s first visit to Kaziranga.
The Prime Minister will arrive in Kaziranga on March 8 evening and will stay overnight at Kaziranga National Park.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects for Assam, including the Rs 3,992 crore project of pipeline from Barauni to Guwahati on Saturday as part of his two-day visit to the state.
PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the expansion of Digboi Refinery from 0.65 Million MT to 1 Million MT with a cost of Rs 768 crores. He will also lay the foundation stone of the expansion of Guwahati Refinery from 1 million MT to 1.2 million MT with a cost of Rs 510 crore.
As the Lok Sabha polls draw near, the Prime Minister will also address a rally at Meleng Meteli and inaugurate several projects of both centre and state government.
In view of PM Modi’s visit to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam, the jeep safari and elephant ride will remain closed in the Kaziranga range of Kohora from March 7 to 9. (ANI)
