On Friday, veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from all party posts, including the primary membership of the Congress. He sent a five-page note to the party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi, where he recalled his long association with the party and his close association with Indira Gandhi.

Ghulam Nabi Azad wrote in his detailed resignation letter, the condition of the Congress party has reached the point of ‘no return’. Along with this, he held Rahul Gandhi responsible for the downfall of the party. Said that senior leaders were ignored and blamed Rahul Gandhi for leaving the party.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, who has been angry with the party for a long time, said in a letter to Sonia Gandhi that he played an important role in the formation of both UPA-1 and UPA-2 governments. However, one of the main reasons for this success was that as the party president, you relied on the decisions of senior leaders and delegated powers to them, apart from heeding their wise advice.

He further said in the letter that however unfortunately after Rahul Gandhi’s entry into politics and especially after January 2013 when he was appointed as the Vice President by you, the entire advisory system that existed earlier by him has been demolished. given. All senior and experienced leaders were sidelined and a new circle of inexperienced sycophants ran the affairs of the party.

He further writes in the letter that the most vivid example of this immaturity was the tearing down of a government ordinance by Rahul Gandhi under the glare of the media. The said ordinance was included in the Congress Core Group and later unanimously approved by the Union Cabinet headed by the Prime Minister of India and also duly approved by the President of India.

This ‘childish’ behavior completely reversed the authority of the Prime Minister and the Government of India. This single action contributed significantly to the defeat of the UPA government in 2014.
