Today is the first Monday of the month of Sawan which started from 14th July. Devotees are lined up in pagodas across the country to perform Lord Bholenath Jalabhishek since morning. Kanwar Yatra has also started. Cheers of Bum Bhole are echoing everywhere. On the first Monday of Sawan, devotees are going to get special facilities in Kashi Vishwanath temple, one of the twelfth Jyotirlingas. It has been estimated that this year up to 5 lakh devotees will come for darshan. In many places including Varanasi, Prayagraj and Haridwar, there is a huge crowd of devotees at the pagodas. Devotees are waiting for their turn standing in long queues carrying Bel leaves, milk and water. The month of Sawan is the best time to worship Lord Shiva.

In which the falling Monday has special significance because Monday is dedicated to Lord Shiva. In such a situation, wake up early in the morning on Monday and take a bath after cleaning the house and place of worship. After taking bath, take a vow of fast by installing the idol of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati at the place of worship of the house. In worship, worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati in Shodashopachar. After this, go to the Shiva temple located near the house and do Jalabhishek of Shivling. Use Ganges water, ghee, sugarcane juice, milk and curd in Jalabhishek.

Chant Om Namah Shivaya Mantra continuously during the worship. After this, sit in front of the idol of Lord Shiva in the Shiva temple and recite Shiva Chalisa and Rudrashtak. Second Sawan is on Monday 25 July, third on 1 August and fourth on 8 August. 12th August is the last day of Sawan.
