On Wednesday, an army helicopter crashed in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. It is being told that 14 people including CDS Bipin Rawat, his wife were aboard. So far three people have been rescued. Two bodies have been recovered there. The Air Force has ordered an inquiry into the accident. It is being told that this accident happened due to bad weather. Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat and his wife were in this helicopter. The rescued people have been taken to the Wellington base for treatment. The search for the fourth person is on. According to initial information, CDS Bipin Rawat had gone to Wellington to attend an event with his wife. There is a College of the Armed Forces in Wellington. CDS Rawat had a lecture here. They were coming back to Coonoor from here. From here he had to leave for Delhi. But this accident has happened in the dense forest. However, the Army has not issued any statement yet. It is being told that the area is quite dense.
There are trees all around here. The accident was so painful that flames are visible all around. Army and Air Force troops have reached for rescue along with the police. Search is also being conducted in the surrounding area. According to reports, 4 officers died in the accident. Their names have not surfaced yet. Nothing has been officially said about General Bipin Rawat’s condition yet. His wife was also aboard this helicopter. General Bipin Rawat held the post of Army Chief from 31 December 2016 to 31 December 2019. He took over as the Chief of Defense Staff on 1 January 2020.
