A day before Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s visit to Jalandhar, Khalistani slogans were found in several places across the city. The slogans were reportedly written on posters of CM Bhagwant Mann and former CM Beant Singh. Former CM Beant Singh died in a bomb blast outside the Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh on August 31, 1995.

Taking cognizance of the situation, Jalandhar Police is investigating the matter. Jalandhar SHO Kamaljeet told news agency ANI that we are checking CCTV cameras nearby. By the way, this is not the first time that ‘pro-Khalistan slogans’ have been found written in Punjab.

Earlier in July this year, the Karnal police had arrested a Patiala man for writing such slogans on the walls of two educational institutions in June.

During interrogation, the man, identified as Manjeet, had said that a US-based man had promised to pay him $1,000 to complete the work. The police produced Manjit in the court, which sent him to 5-day police custody for further investigation.

In Himachal Pradesh too, a Punjab resident was arrested in April for raising Khalistani flags and raising slogans on the walls of the Himachal Legislative Assembly in Dharamsala town, as Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur himself told.
