Hyundai is gearing up to bring in what could possibly be the biggest launch of the year with the Creta 2020 ready to break cover at the Auto Expo which begins in Greater Noida from February 7. Just a week before the event, on Saturday, Hyundai revealed the design sketches of the new Creta which promises to once again galvanize the SUV segment in India.
Creta 2020 gets an imposing design philosophy with a clear emphasis on a strong and futuristic visual design. Hyundai says that special attention has been given to increase the road presence of the new Creta, highlighted by the company’s signature cascading grille, flared wheel arches and bonnet crease lines that add to the definition.
Creta 2020 in India is expected to closely follow the styling elements from the model launched in China where it is called ix25. Sleek LED headights, sharp DRLs and large airdams on the front, raised crease lines and new alloys on the side, and re-designed tail lights promise to make the car stand apart from its preceding variants.
Expect Creta 2020 to also be packed with new-age features and the car could get all-new upholstery, a 10.25 inch floating infotainment system and even better safety features. These could be the key in helping the new Creta take on newer players in the market like Kia Seltos and MG Hector.
Under the hood, the 2020 Creta will surely sport BS 6-compliant engines and a 1.5-litre petrol and diesel motors are expected. All eyes, however, would be on whether a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine is also put up as a variant option, especially because this is an area where Hyundai has been focusing on, at least when it came to the Venue and the recently-launched Aura.
Creta was first launched in India back in June of 2015 and received a face lift in 2018. The car managed to garner massive attention and sold in droves. Recent times have not been too kind with rivals ramping up their game. Even in the current market scenario, many players are looking at bringing in capable SUVs that could give Hyundai a run for its money. Creta 2020, therefore, is crucial to how the Korean car maker manages to stay ahead of the curve.
