At least seven people, including children, were killed and over 70 injured in a blast near an Islamic seminary on the outskirts of the northwest Pakistani city of Peshawar, news agency Reuters said quoting officials.

“The blast took place in a madrassa where unknown people had planted explosives in a plastic bag,” a police officer told news agency Reuters on condition of anonymity. A cleric was delivering a lecture about the teachings of Islam at the main hall of the Jamia Zubairia madrassa when the blast took place.

The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital. A spokesman for the hospital said it had received seven dead and 70 injured patients.

This attack comes two days after a bombing in the southwestern city of Quetta killed three people.
