DEHRADUN: In a short span of 48 hours, the Uttarakhand government took two major decisions. First was to part with reservation in promotions and the second was to reinstate the previous reservation roster for direction recruitment in government jobs. While the first has annoyed the SC/ST employees, the second has not gone well with the General and OBC employees. Both sides have warned strong protest and said that “the decision was against them.”
The SC/ST employees held an emergency meeting on Thursday in which it was decided to hold a state-level meeting on March 22 to discuss the format of protest.
SC/ST State Employees Federation president Karam Ram Singh said that the employees of reserved category have been cheated. He pointed out that they had left it on the state government to decide on the matter but now felt let down by the decision that was taken.
