The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has said that the state government should remove Harak Singh Rawat from the council of Ministers as his name figures in the FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the purported sting CD case of former Chief Minister Harish Rawat. Talking to The Pioneer at Rajiv Bhawan on Thursday, Singh said that the BJP government of Uttarakhand which regularly harps about morality should now act what it talks and take action on the Minister.

In the FIR, the CBI has named former CM Harish Rawat, Minister of Forest, Environment and AYUSH, Harak Singh Rawat and Umesh Kumar, the CEO of a news channel. The premier investigation agency has named Harak Singh Rawat and Umesh Kumar as conspirators in the case. The PCC president said that the agencies like Enforcement Directorate (ED), Income Tax (IT) and CBI are being used by the Government to frame and harass the Congress party leaders. He added that the people have understood the nefarious designs of the BJP and they are waiting for the opportune moment.

On the recently held elections of three tier Panchayati Raj bodies, Pritam Singh said that the election results have categorically proved that the people of the state have given their mandate against the state government. He claimed that the party has performed exceedingly well in the Panchayat elections and Congress candidates are in the position of becoming Presidents of district Panchayats in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Almora, Chamoli, Pauri and Pithoragarh. The PCC President accused the BJP Government of the State for meddling with reservation status and other things to make things in its favour in the Panchayat elections.
