Amazon is trying to make online shopping a bit easier and fun for customers in the US. It has launched a new service called Made for You, that creates custom t-shirts for shoppers and shows them on a 3D based version of themselves. The 3D virtual body double is created based on their measurements. What they need to do is to give Amazon their height, weight and body style along with a couple of photos using the Amazon app.

With all the data, Amazon builds a virtual body double to visualize how the custom t-shirt will look like on the body.

Amazon says it automatically deletes the photos that users give using their app. In addition, they can also delete the size information at any point. The e-commerce giant is being said to expand this service for more styles and clothes in future. However, most of it will be based on user’s feedback.

In addition, the firm is also planning to include more body styles than what is already there right now – feminine and masculine. This technology is not actually using AR in any way, something e-commerce firms like Lenskart or Myntra but it does show Amazon’s ambition to different ways through which it can take on rivals in the coming years.

This Made for You service uses the 3D body modelling technology, which is being linked to Amazon’s acquisition of 3D imaging startup Body Labs, in 2017. And that’s not all. Amazon previously has experimented with the personalized shopping experiences with services like Stitch Fix, which is a wardrobe subscription service, Prime Wardrobe and Echo Look, which recently got discontinued.
