Tata Motors on Wednesday announced the addition of an XM(S) variant to the Nexon at a price of 8.36 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi). The variant seeks to offer more premium features at a more affordable price point in a bid to attract more prospective customers to the vehicle.

Tata informed that in order to address a growing demand for the Nexon and make more features available in variants prices lower down, the XM(S) will get an electric sunroof which, it said, would make it the most affordable vehicle across segments to offer this. Additionally, the Nexon XM(S) also gets auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers and steering-mounted controls.

Features already existing in the Nexon XM, like Electronic Stability Program, LED DRLs with Projector Headlamps, Driver and Co-Driver Airbags, Hill Hold Control, ConnectNext Infotainment System by Harman and Multi- Drive Modes (Eco, City and Sport), are carried forward to the XM(S) as well.

Nexon is a key product in the passenger vehicles’ product portfolio of Tata Motors and the company may be looking at cementing its base in the sub-compact SUV segment, especially because newer rivals like Kia Sonet and Nissan Magnite are threatening to take a chunk of the market share when launched. “We are elated to announce the launch of Nexon XM(S). A product that will now allow our customers to enjoy superior features such as the electric sunroof at a compelling price,” said Vivek Srivatsa, Head (Marketing) at Tata Motors’ Passenger Vehicle Business Unit.

Nexon is available in both petrol as well as diesel, and manual as well as automatic transmission options.
