Mi A3 users have been complaining about their phones bricking after installing the latest Android 11 update. Xiaomi acknowledged the issue, and halted the update rollout. It has now issued a statement saying that it will offer free repairs to the affected Mi A3 units.
The Android 11 update for Mi A3 was rolled out last week, and shortly after Twitter was flooded with complaints from users. The update issue was so bad that users couldn’t turn their phones on after installing Android 11. Xiaomi halted the update but it’s yet to roll out a new one. The company is now offering free repairs at its service centres across India.
“We are aware of the issue on some Mi A3 devices following a recent Android 11 update. We have since halted the rollout. We kindly request users who experience this issue to visit any of the 2,000 plus service centers across the country nearer to you wherein a solution will be provided for free unconditionally (within or beyond warranty). We regret the inconvenience this has brought about. As a brand committed to offering the best possible user experience, we will continuously improve our products and services,” Xiaomi said in a statement.
Xiaomi hasn’t specified when it will roll out Android 11 again for Mi A3. This case is similar to what happened last year with the Android 10 update for Mi A3. Xiaomi had to halt this update twice since it had multiple bugs. Mi A3 also suffered a bugged firmware update that disabled the second SIM card on the Mi A3.
