Uttarakhand CM reaches Gairsain for state Assembly session

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Sunday reached the summer capital Gairsain to attend the state Assembly session which will begin from tomorrow. The Uttarakhand assembly will meet on March 1 for its first session of this year. Gairsain in Chamoli district was declared as the summer capital of Uttarakhand last year. The Uttarakhand government has planned to develop its summer capital in the next 10 years.

Uttarakhand govt starts initiative to display daughter’s name on house nameplates

The Uttarakhand government has started an initiative "Ghareki Pechan Chelik Naam" from the Nainital district, under which the traditional Aipan art would be used to display the daughter's name and decoration on nameplates of the house. According to a Chief Minister's Office (CMO) release, under the initiative, one village each has been identified in the different development blocks where the project would be initiated. The name of the youngest daughter would be displayed on the nameplate, In case, a family has more than one girl child. Uttarakhand glacial burst: Death toll rises to 72

The death toll in the Uttarakhand glacier burst incident has reached 72 as two more bodies and 30 parts of human bodies were recovered from the debris, according to the state government on Saturday. "So far, 72 bodies and 30 human body parts have been recovered from different places in the avalanche hit areas out of which 40 bodies and one human body part have been identified," said Chamoli district police. DNA samples of bodies which have not been identified are being preserved. Missing reports of 205 persons have been registered at Joshimath police station so far. According to ITBP sources, the flow of the water is not very high and water is discharging smoothly. A group of 22 policewomen from Uttarakhand is undergoing training at the Police Training College in Narendra Nagar of Tehri Garhwal district to be part of Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
