4.3 magnitude earthquake hits Rajasthan’s Bikaner

An earthquake of 4.3 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Rajasthan's Bikaner on Friday, informed the National Center for Seismology (NCS). According to the NCS, the quake took place at 08:01 am today. "Earthquake of magnitude 4.3 occurred 420 km northwest of Bikaner, Rajasthan, at 0801 hours today," the NCS said.

Rajasthan govt launches campaign to make state ‘beggar-free’

A campaign for 'beggar-free' Rajasthan has been started in Jaipur, where beggars are being rehabilitated with the joint efforts of Rajasthan Skill and Livelihoods Development Corporation (RSLDC) and Sopan Institute of Science, Technology, and Management. NSUI Rajasthan launches fund-raising drive for Ayodhya Ram temple construction

Congress youth wing, National Students' Union of India (NSUI) on Tuesday launched a campaign "Rs 1 Ram Ke Naam" to raise funds from students for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The campaign was launched by NSUI state president Abhishek Chaudhary at Commerce College in Jaipur. The Rajasthan government has reduced the value-added tax (VAT) by 2 per cent both on petrol and diesel, announced Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday. Gehlot also urged the Central government for a reduction in VAT. "The State govt has reduced VAT by 2% both on petrol & diesel to provide relief to people in #Rajasthan. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Rajasthan’s Rajsamand, Kiran Maheshwari, who had tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) last month, passed away last night at Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital, news agency ANI reported. Maheshwari, who was also a member of the 14th Lok Sabha from 2004-2009 from Rajasthan’s Udaipur constituency, was shifted to Medanta earlier this month after her health worsened. The Rajasthan government has allowed religious places and those of worship to open in the state’s rural areas with a limited number of devotees from July 1, saying norms of social distancing will have to be followed. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot said during a review meeting on the coronavirus pandemic that a decision has been taken against opening religious places in urban areas and big religious sites in rural areas based on the suggestions of committees constituted under district collectors. The special branch of Rajasthan Police on Monday arrested two civil defence employees on espionage charges. Both the employees - Vikas Kumar (29) and Chimal Lal (22) - were passing information to the Pakistani intelligence agency, the police said. They work at an Army Ammunition Depot in Sri Ganganagar district. A committee constituted by the district collector of Rajasthan’s Bikaner has fixed Rs 620 a day as the tariff for hotels and resorts, which have been converted into quarantine centres during the Covid-19 pandemic. According to documents accessed by HT, the panel fixed Rs 210 for air-conditioned rooms and Rs 60 for non-AC rooms in deluxe class hotels and resorts with meals included. The normal tariff in these hotels and resorts ranges between Rs 3000 to 4500 per day, including breakfast.
