Terrorists attack security forces in JK’s Shopian, no injuries reported

Terrorists on Wednesday attacked a naka party of security forces in the Imamsahib area of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. However, no injuries have been reported in the incident. "Terrorists fired upon a naka party of Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Imamsahib in Shopian," Kashmir IG Vijay Kumar said. "No injuries have been reported," he added. (ANI)

Police stop car with explosives, foil attack in J&K’s Pulwama; NIA on spot

A major attack was averted when the police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama intercepted a vehicle moving about with explosives in it. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team is at the spot. The police got tipped off last night and sent out search parties in search of the vehicle. The suspected vehicle, a Santro car, came and a few rounds were fired. Soon after the owners of the vehicle abandoned it and escaped. On inspection, the police found explosives in a drum on the rear seat of the vehicle. They kept a watch and the people in the nearby houses were evacuated. The bomb disposal squads were called in and the vehicle was exploded in situ by them. The vehicle reportedly had a number plate of a scooter registered somewhere in the Kathua district of Jammu zone.

Supreme Court forms 3-member team to look into J&K 4G mobile internet case

The Supreme Court on Monday constituted a three-member committee to look into demand for allowing 4G mobile internet in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. There is a nationwide shutdown in place till May 17 to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Secretary of Union home ministry, chief secretary of J&K and secretary of ministry of communication will make up the three-member team. The petitioners have argued that 4G speed was essential for healthcare, education, trade and business in the union territory during this hour of crisis due to coronavirus. As the winter sets in, the Jammu and Kashmir administration is looking for an accommodation to shift 34 political detenues from Centaur Hotel here as it lacks proper heating arrangements, officials said. 6 labourers killed in J&K on day of EU group’s visit

Militants gunned down six migrant labourers on Tuesday in Jammu & Kashmir’s (J&K) Kulgam district, the fifth attack in two weeks in which people from outside the state have been targeted. The incident came on a day a group of 23 European lawmakers met senior army and administration officials in the Valley, stoking violent protests in several parts of the region. State police said three or four unidentified gunmen forced their way into a house in Kulgam’s Katrasoo village, dragged out the labourers, and shot them dead.
