The fire in a plywood factory in west Delhi’s Mundka area on Saturday morning has been brought under control, officials said, which was reported nearly a week after 43 people were killed in the massive blaze in Anaj Mandi.
Twenty fire tenders were rushed to the area near the Mundka Metro station after the fire was reported in the factory at 5am. The Delhi Fire Service declared it as a medium fire.
No casualty has been reported so far but the fire spread to a bulb factory, an official of the Delhi Fire Service said.
Forty-three workers, mostly migrants, were killed in the fire in an illegal manufacturing unit in Anaj Mandi on Rani Jhansi Road last Sunday.
The fire department said the accident was one of Delhi’s worst fire accidents. Fifty-three people were killed in a fire that started from a transformer in the basement of Uphaar cinema complex on June 13, 1997.
