The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced ‘Metroman’ E Sreedharan as its chief minister candidate for the upcoming Kerala assembly polls.
The decision was made public by the BJP state chief K Surendran.

Sreedharan, the architect of the Delhi Metro, had formally joined the BJP on February 25 in the presence of Union minister RK Singh at a function at Changaramkulam in Malappuram district when the ‘Vijay Yatra’ led by Surendran reached there.
The 88-year-old is also a part of the BJP’s 16-member state election committee for the state assembly polls.

The election for the 140-member Kerala assembly will be held on April 6, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had announced.
For assembly poll 2021, the number of polling booths in Kerala has been extended from 21,498 to 40,771. The counting of votes will be held on May 2.
The tenure of the 14th Kerala legislative assembly will come to an end on June 1, 2021. A total of 2,67,88,268 voters will elect the candidates in Kerala for the 15th legislative assembly.
