On Monday 3 May, cloudburst was reported in Tehri, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag of Uttarakhand. However, there is no information about any human casualties, the state emergency operation centre here said.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat soon spoke to the district magistrates of Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi and directed them to provide immediate relief and possible assistance to the affected people.

This comes after a glacier burst took place near the India-China border in Sumna village of Uttarakhand’s Chamoli Garhwal district on April 23.

At least 15 people died while three are still missing and efforts are on to locate them, Chamoli Disaster Management Officer N K Joshi had said.

The bodies were taken to Joshimath for a post-mortem. Eleven of the dead were identified, and they all were residents of Jharkhand.

Seven people injured in the incident are undergoing treatment. Five of them are receiving treatment at Joshimath Army Hospital while two were taken to Dehradun.

Taking to Twitter, Tirath Singh Rawat wrote in Hindi which loosely translated to English reads, “Both the District Magistrates have been asked to constantly monitor the situation. Orders have been given to the Public Works Department, NH and BRO that the roads which have been closed should be opened immediately so that the public doesn’t face any problem.”
