WhatsApp has been working on enabling support for multiple devices on its platform. The messaging app is also working on an advanced search feature with different file types. A new WhatsApp beta update on Android has been released with more details on these two upcoming features.

WhatsApp has been spotted working on multiple devices support for months now. This feature lets users use the same WhatsApp account on different devices at the same time. At present, WhatsApp can be used on one device only. The only other device support it has is WhatsApp web. The latest beta update reveals this feature will show up as ‘Linked Devices’ on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is currently testing this feature with support for four devices, WABetaInfo notes. Linked Devices will be available in the settings menu of the app. Here, users will be able to see which other devices their WhatsApp account is active on. Users can also link a new device to their from here itself. The interface is similar to the WhatsApp web section on the app.

Another feature that WhatsApp has been working on is ‘Advanced Search’. As the name suggests, this feature will improve the search tool on WhatsApp. Now when users tap on the search bar, there will be different categories to choose from. These include photos, videos, links, GIFs, audio, and documents. This makes it easier to search for different things on WhatsApp especially if you have a lot of data.

These features are currently in development but aren’t visible to WhatsApp’s public beta users yet. WhatsApp is expected to introduce these features soon.
