Xiaomi’s 100W fast charger may finally see the light of day. According to a report, Xiaomi will soon launch a new phone which will support 100W fast charging. Right now, it is not clear which phone will have the capability. Speculations are it could be the Mi Mix 4.

Xiaomi had first showcased its “Super Charge Turbo” charging technology in November last year. Showcased as a prototype or concept, the 100W charger can charge a 4,000mAh battery in just 17 minutes. The charger comes with a high-voltage charge pump, 9-fold charge protection, and an independent MCU. It is also equipped with features such as lower internal resistance. Xiaomi claims the charger can deliver fast charge and maintain low temperature simultaneously.

Xiaomi, however, is not the only one in the race to launch ultra-fast charging capabilities. In January last year, Vivo showcased “Super FlashCharg 120W.” As the name implies, the charging capabilities hovers at 120W. The company claimed the technology can help charge a 4,000mAh battery in just 13 minutes. Realme has also trademarked “SuperDart” fast charging technology.

At the moment, there aren’t a lot of phones with 50W or above chargers. For instance, Huawei Mate X has a 55-watt fast charging tech. You can get a similar 55W on iQoo 3. Realme X2 Pro has 50W Super Vooc charging.

That said, a Gizchina report states that the 100W charger could come with future gaming smartphones. These phones, also expected to run Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 SoC, are likely to be available early next year.
